The return of The Buff and Blue is more than a relaunch – it is a recommitment. Established in 1892, The Buff and Blue has long served as a platform for student expression and a record of life at Gallaudet and the Deaf community beyond. While its format has evolved from print to digital, its purpose has remained the same: to inform, to question, and to reflect the voices of this community. As our community evolves, so does The Buff and Blue.
This newspaper exists because students choose to engage – with campus issues, with each other, and with the responsibility that comes with telling our own stories. Behind this return is a dedicated team committed to thoughtful reporting, creativity, and accountability. The Buff and Blue has never belonged to a select few. Its strength depends on student contributions from across campus – writers, artists, photographers, and thinkers willing to speak up and be heard.
As we move forward, our goal is not simply to revive a legacy but to build a newspaper that is relevant, honest, and shaped by the students it represents. The Buff and Blue’s next chapter begins now – and it is one we write together.
